Building a State of the Art Hospital in Botswana

Two Extreme Givers that are WorldLegacy North Carolina Leadership Graduates: Jane Arnold, CNM and Julie Sweedler. They left cushy UNC to create a state-of-the-art hospital in a country where there is nothing like it. Jane is a Nurse Midwife and Julie is a health educator.

Jane Arnold went through WorldLegacy’s Basic, Advanced and NC90 Leadership Program. Her leadership team did an Extreme Makeover project at the Heritage of Raleigh, Raleigh, NC for elderly citizens.Jane Arnold was a member of the LP PHD program PhD8 and was a coach for WorldLegacy. Her PHD transformational experiential workshop was on midwifery.

Julie Sweedler also went through WorldLegacy’s Basic, Advanced and NC94 Leadership Program. Her team’s project was also for the elderly. Her team had an extreme makeover of an outdoor area at the Durham Center for Senior Life.

Now they are off to do an amazing Extreme Giving and Extreme Makeover in Botswana.
Julie Said: “We attended and Orientation with all the medical and administrative staff who are currently hired and here – about 1.40 people. The docs alone are represented by 20 different countries. We’re quite the little UN – all here to start what everyone agrees is a very ambitious, state-of-the-art hospital in a country and region that has seen nothing like what we’re creating. I’m very inspired by what we are attempting to do: provide an extremely advanced and exceptional set of medical services that don’t exist in the country and do it in the highest-tech environment possible. Some of the high-tech initiatives are: paperless record keeping, virtual consulting with an international medical advisory board, and being a test site for an electronic bedside quality assurance monitoring system.”

Battered Women’s Shelter

Woman’s Rehabilitation and Counseling Center

In January of 2009, WorldLegacy’s NC106 Leadership team chose the Woman’s Rehabilitation and Counseling Center in Florida for their project. This facility provides a home for up to a year for woman and children who are transitioning in life. This amazing WorldLegacy Leadership project included renovating the front lobby including putting in new flooring, painting, rearranging the main desk to face the front door, replaced old furniture with new, and added motion detector, lights and a bright front porch light. A beautiful recreation room was created from what once was a storage room. The room was deep cleaned and painted, brand new furniture was brought in, and the big screen TV and DVD were hooked up. A kid’s corner was created complete with TV, DVD, an over 30 DVD library of Disney movies, games, kid’s furniture, and custom hand painted murals on the walls. The overgrown garden was cleaned up and replanted. The non-working bathrooms were repaired and are now functional. An open and cheerful space was created where the woman and children can enjoy time together or with visitors. To top it all off, two new desks and computers were installed in the library, complete with Office Suite software and internet connection. These computers give the kids the ability to complete school assignments and the moms the ability to search and apply for jobs and practice office skills. Budget $35,000.

Battered Women’s Shelter Testimonial

I am Gerald Parker and I am the NC 106BE Extraordinary leadership team. WE, the extraordinary NC106 Leaders created an awesome WorldLegacy Leadership project in Orlando, Florida at a Battered Women’s Shelter. We honored these women by refurbishing an old room that wasn’t being used into an all-in-one entertainment room fully furnished with Couches, a big screen TV with a DVD player stocked with Children’s and Family Videos. Also, we supplied toys and games for the children to use in this room as well. We had an artist come and paint create a mural on the walls of this room as well. Also, these women did not have an easy avenue for applying for jobs and letting their children to their school work so we created a small Computer Lab for them to use with donated computers and networking equipment. The resident’s were elated to be able to use these computers. We installed new flooring in the lobby as well as installed flood lighting outside to provide safety. All of these things were done in 48 Hours! If that kind of giving can happen in 48 hours, what about a week? A month? A year? Be a giver in the world and miracles will be created. I know the residents of that shelter are thankful for our that.

WorldLegacy Workshop Supported My Career

WorldLegacy Workshop Supported My Career

Easily the best investment that I ever made in myself is the money I spent on the Basic – Advanced – Leadership Program that WorldLegacy offers. What I learned from this WorldLegacy experience changed the dynamics of every relationship and career experience I have had since!!! My marriage is more honest and caring. My art educational career is a positive experience in my life and my focus is clear; to create an art educational experience that will amplify my students’ greatness and their vision of themselves. The experiential nature of the workshops enabled me to see in 3-D how my way of looking at life was working; it was OK but I never felt fulfilled or comfortable — or particularly happy. Using the tools of WorldLegacy brought me to a clearer awareness of my greatness and everybody else’s greatness!! It got me in touch with what REALLY mattered to me: my family, my work, my personal peace of mind, and my ability to affect change in the world. Irene Talton, Retired Teacher, Raleigh, NC

Corporate Wellness My WorldLegacy Experience

Jim G.  Charlotte, NC

I graduated WorldLegacy NC86 in the fall of 2006. I was a personal trainer and
fitness instructor at that time. One of my clients had introduced me
to the work being completed at the WorldLegacy and invited me to
attend. Being in the health and fitness industry I have been to many
professional conventions and other training opportunities before. I
decided to go because this was one of my biggest clients, and the
fact that he was so sincere, told this me was something different. I
showed up vowing to do it on my terms. What I found at WorldLegacy was an amazing
group of individuals really committed to creating positive change, transformation,
and helping others find their voice. This was getting real about what
is really happening in my life today. I knew I had to do it.

Eighteen months later…..

I have formed my own corporation, secured my first contract for
providing corporate wellness and health promotion solutions.

Begun to assemble a team of health professionals to provide the very
best in wellness coaching and health promotion programming.

Developed several websites for our businesses.

Rode three Century (100 mile plus) bike rides for charlity in 2007

Was elected president of the CUMC chapter of the United Methodists
Men’s national association.

Helped lead a mission team to Mississippi to complete Katrina
disaster relief, for the last 5 years

The experience I had in the personal leadership work I completed at
the WorldLegacy created a profound change in my outlook on my life.
At the time I had no idea how big that was going to be. I had talent
before, what I received was this crystal clear vision of what I
wanted and an understanding that the only thing keeping me from it
was me. Take the risk to explore all the possibilities that await, if
you dare to look. Find your voice and be heard, make a difference.

WorldLegacy and Family

WorldLegacy and Family

Wow! I had literally forgotten who I was by the time I went to the WorldLegacy training in Morrisville, NC. I walked in the training a mother of eight with a job I felt stuck working 70 hours a week and a poor relationship with men in general. Through the realization that I am WORTHY of having what I want, I live freely, now! I started taking my home-based WELLNESS business seriously during my Leadership

Program and I never looked back! I now cherish precious moments with my children, knowing the world has more than enough for all of us to thrive. I have a full life, now with friends outside of my profession, and I even date occasionally! I honor men for their greatness, because I allowed myself to forgive them and myself for my past. My children are so much happier with life, now that they see me living abundantly! They go after their passions for the future, right NOW!

After they committed to participating in the WorldLegacy Foundation teen trainings, they’ve taken leadership roles at school and in the community that blow me away! I’m thankful for our environment at The WorldLegacy. It’s where I let my children run free without me standing over them. I am able to trust the graduates to love, rather than harm them. It is the one place where I have found many different people creating oneness that is heart-felt, real, and open! Through the transformation I’ve created at The WorldLegacy, I see my vision of FAMILY WELLNESS in the world more clearly everyday! God bless, WorldLegacy! Tiffany Peterson
